Bad boy quarterback Tyler Harris plays ball for a living and breaks hearts for a hobby.

With two championships in as many years, Tyler is the best quarterback in the league. Gorgeous and rich, he's at the top of his game. Women love him. Men want to be him. Only Tyler's not feeling the love. In fact, he's not feeling anything at all. Licking his wounds after a scandal and a breakup with his long-time girlfriend, he retreats to a run-down mansion on a remote island in the Pacific Northwest. Once there, Tyler is blindsided by the sassy redhead next door. He knows that he's met his match and possibly his soulmate. There's one problem. She despises him.

Lavender Mead has a good reason to dislike jocks, namely an absentee father who deserted the family to coach college football. Maybe that explains her penchant for bad boys -- especially those who play ball. Her new neighbor seems just that type. Yet Tyler's not the shallow superstar she expected, and she's inexplicably drawn to football's bad boy. The two are so hot together, they're combustible.

As the clock ticks down, can they commit to each other forever? Or will they both fall short of the goal at the last minute?

Author: Nina Crespo

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Day: November 12th

About The First Rule of Hook-Ups:

Someone once told me that there are worst things than being left at the altar. Well, not many, in my experience. That was six months ago, though, and my life has moved on. Heck, I have a new job lined up and I'm leaving town. But, I can't deny that my love life kind of sucks. That’s why I let my friends convince me to join them for Club Escapade’s Breakup Bash. And we might just be disillusioned enough to actually enjoy it.

Last time we were here, it was for my bachelorette party. That night, I met one of the dancers – Raphael – and when he flirted with me, I almost forgot I was engaged. And there's a part of me that never forgot him. Now, it seems my friends have wandered off and I’m thinking about calling it a night. Until the music begins and I see Raphael, my secret fantasy, on stage. And this time, I’m definitely not engaged...

Exclusive Excerpt:

Alexa raised a mojito in a toast. “Love sucks.”

Nat sat next to her at the square, white linen-covered table. She lifted a glass of chardonnay. “I’ll co-sign on that.”

“Me too.” Cori, also with them, slurped a frozen drink.

Laughter and conversation echoed in the semi-darkened private room at Club Escapade. The Breakup Bash—a party to help women get over one man and move on to a better one—was in full swing. Women mingled around the corner bar and danced to Beyoncé’s latest hit in front of the DJ booth next to a gold-curtained stage. The Hot Body Hunks male revue show was scheduled to perform a little later in the evening.

Alexa struggled to match the upbeat atmosphere. Who would’ve guessed the three of them would end up sharing the same bad luck with relationships? Nat had gone through a nasty divorce. Cori no longer lived with her boyfriend. But she was the dumbest one of them all. On her wedding day, her main concern had been making sure she had something old, new, borrowed, and blue. Meanwhile, some woman named Karma Sunflower had permanently borrowed Brad.

A couple of months before the wedding, when he’d developed an interest in health and started shopping at the organic market, she’d viewed it as a positive. She’d even cut back on French fries, given up sugar, and eaten tofu in solidarity with him. But all along, he’d been playing her for a fool. She should have grown more suspicious when boxes of his so-called favorite granola cereal disappeared in a couple of days instead of weeks. No one needed that much fiber, including full-of-shit Brad.

Alexa sank back into the black padded chair. The brilliant solitaire on her finger had kept her enthralled with the promise of a perfect future. What a joke. “Maybe coming here wasn’t such a good idea. This is one of the last places that I hung out as a delusional bride-to-be.”

“No.” Cori plunked down her glass, and a slice of pineapple fell off the rim. “This party is just what we need. Maybe some Hasta la Vista cocktails will put us into the mood. Or maybe champagne. Ooh, that sounds even better. I’ll get some.” She sprang from her seat. Purple and green strobe lights reflected in her neon-blue hair. The narrow skirt of her short yellow minidress, and blue death-defying, high-heeled pumps, shortened her steps.

Nat flipped her hair then straightened the shoulder strap of her burgundy top. Her gold-and-silver earrings reflected the lights. “Good thing we took a Lyft and didn’t count on Cori being our designated driver. She’s really celebrating tonight.”

“She’s supposed to help me pack tomorrow. Too many hasta la vistas and I’ll have to count her out.”

“Staying distracted is her way of handling things. At least she’s not depressed anymore. We all needed this.” Sadness flashed in Nat’s eyes.

Alexa felt her pain and then some. Maybe consuming multiple hasta la vistas was the right idea. Alcohol might help her forget her humiliation, too.

Nat brought a plate of cubed cheese and crackers closer to them. “Are you sure about this moving thing? Seattle is a big step.”

“I’m embracing new horizons.”

Nat munched on a cracker. “New horizons are about running toward what you do want, not running away from what you don’t. You’ve never talked about leaving before.”

“I’m not running. I need a change of pace, and this job offer is too good to pass up. NorthStar only transports freight in the northeast. Vannett Incorporated operates nationally. As the head of carrier relations for them, I’ll have more responsibility and a bigger paycheck.”

“And you won’t have to deal with Brad and his hippy-dippy side piece when they show up six weeks from now.”

“That’s an added bonus.”

Seeing her ex anytime soon was the last thing she wanted to do. As far as meeting Karma face-to-face, she’d imagined everything from slapping her to forcing her to eat a pound of sugar. Non-organic, of course. But most of her anger was at Brad. He’d not only betrayed her as a fiancé, but also as a friend. {…}

Nat nudging her arm pulled Alexa from the past. “Hopefully all this change includes a new man.” She brushed crumbs from the lap of her skinny jeans. “You’re twenty-seven, hot as hell, and single. Don’t let opportunity pass you by. Indulge.”

Dating. Not this topic again. “I’m here with you guys to see the Hot Body Hunks. Doesn’t that count?” The poster she’d spotted near the entrance featured a photo of twelve shirtless, muscular guys wearing jeans. Unfortunately, Raphael the Dream Maker wasn’t among them. Seeing him again might have lifted her spirits. “Love those earrings. Are they new?”

“You know they’re not. You bought them, and you’re wearing the same pair. Stop trying to change the subject.”

Alexa fiddled with one of her silver and gold earrings. “I’m not interested in falling in love again.”

“Who said anything about love? This is about leaving a total dick for more satisfying cock and less worries. It’s about getting rid of jackasses who aren’t worth a damn and most important of all...” Nat held up her wineglass. “Freedom!” The women around them whooped and applauded.

Alexa pulled down Nat’s arm. “Will you stop.”

“No. You stop. It’s perfectly okay to ride a man into a better future. Preferably in the midst of an orgasm. That’s what this celebration is all about, and you need to get on board.” Nat plucked a condom, with Do Me printed on the red packaging, from the floral centerpiece. “That’s why it’s called the Breakup Bash.”

RELEASE BLITZ ★ The Player Gets Coached

Title: The Player Gets Coached
(Bachelor, #2)
Author: Janet Nissenson
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 16, 2018
Cover Designer: Najla Qamber
Designs Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.

The Manwhore Versus The Maneater

Finn McManus thrives on his reputation as a player’s player – a term that has nothing to do with his years as a professional athlete. A notorious flirt and ladies man, the handsome, charming retired football player rarely dates a woman more than a few times, and shies away from relationships like they were a contagious disease. And despite his parents’ decades long, blissfully happy marriage, Finn just can’t see himself ever being in the same situation.

Delilah Ferris has acquired her own reputation over the years as something of a maneater. She makes no bones about the fact that she expects to call the shots in the relationship, and that she’ll never be any man’s fool. And when she meets her new neighbor Finn for the first time, she automatically puts him in the same category as her handsome, playboy father – the same father who not only broke her heart too many times to count but broke their family as well. Delilah has always vowed to steer clear of heartbreakers like Finn McManus, unwilling to ever fall victim to his charms.

But when the gorgeous, tempting Delilah quickly becomes the only woman Finn has eyes for, he pulls out all the stops to convince her to go out with him. And if Delilah weakens her resolve and agrees, will she regret her decision sooner than later? Or will the coach finally manage to whip this player into shape?

The Player Gets Coached (Bachelor #2)The Player Gets Coached by Janet Nissenson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is book #2 in the Bachelor series. This can be read as a standalone novel. For reader understanding and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this series in order.

Finn is disturbed that he is the only one who has not traditionally grown up. He finds a woman he is interested in, and she is a maneater of the skilled kind. How does he show her he can be her match?

Delilah is not impressed by first sighting of Finn. She is not wanting to date a manwhore who can never make up his mind what he wants in a woman. They clash and it is like the player must learn to be played.

This story was pretty slow. The beginning has a lot of back story and the characters are rich and colorful. I enjoyed the banter and the high heat factor. Was a great addition to the series, and a good read.

Hero
Loving A Warrior - Melanie Backe-Hansen

Matt literally runs into Shane the week before he begins his training.  When they see one another next, it is under high pressure conditions.  He cannot help that he is attracted to his buddy.  He just has to be a big boy and control it.

Shane is equally attracted to Matt.  Which will break and act on it first?  Being a SEAL is what these men want.  That means giving to their country, more than to themselves.  Shane is not sure he can choose that anymore.

I was truly impressed with both the characters and the information given about the scenario.  This was a really well written story and I could not put it down!  I loved the banter, and the humor.  I especially loved how real the book felt.  Like I was with them in the moment.  I give this story a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Fractured Honor - Kaylea Cross

Beckett has had the hots for Sierra for a long time.  She is the sister to his best friend, so he never intends to act on the urge.  As a military man, and a good friend, he has kept himself away from temptation - until now.

Sierra has wanted Beckett for such a long time.  She knows he has started to look at her differently, but she also knows he is avoiding her as well.  Her brother's best friend is a fine specimen and she means to have him.

This story classifies as a slow burn.  The heat is there.  The want is there.  The mutual feelings are there.  I loved the characters loyalty.  I loved how clear the feelings and worries came across.  Good sold story and a great read.  I give book a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Out In The End Zone - Lane Hayes

This is book #2 in the Out In College series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  For reader understanding of the series, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this series in order.

Evan and Mitch have mutual friends.  They are often at parties and places together with their friends in common.  When Mitch's project gives them reason to be together more often, Evan jumps at the chance.

Mitch is not sure what to think.  He is grateful he has found someone open enough to the possibilities that he can finally get the test results for his project to be done.  At the same time, he is incredibly attracted to Evan.

This to me, is a wonderful add to the series, as well as this author's finest book yet.  I found the characters charming.  Their story felt very real.  I sure hope this is made into a movie.  Would love to see this on the big screen.  I give this a 5/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

“Football players are all different, but their focus is the same— winning, whether it’s on the field or off.”

“Yeah,” Riley sighs. “It’s the same everywhere. Most of the guys I’ve met just want to hook up.”

This is book #5, on the Oxford series.  This book can be read as a standalone novel.  To avoid spoilers, and enjoy this amazing series, I recommend reading this in order.

Brit and Hunter are best friends.  They work together, and he is her boss, technically.  They make a great team.  So he is the ideal man to ask why everyone friend zones her instead of wants to date her seriously.

Hunter has recently noticed Brit as a woman and more than a friend.  Her asking him to teach her seduction is apparently working too well.  Now he has to figure out how to help his best friend without hurting her and their friendship on the way.

This was a great end to an incredible series!  I love this author, and all her works.  Always worth reading.  This book was a great fast pace, with some serious humor and side order of heat.  I absolutely adored reading about this couple falling in love.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Hard Truths - Alex Whitehall

Isaac meets Logan at Christmas, as his sister's boyfriend.  Talk about your forbidden choices.  He will just have to put what he wants aside.  He does not believe he is worthy of a great relationship.

Logan has no problem telling Isaac he wants him.  He is only doing a friend a favor.  Their attraction is obvious to anyone who looks at them together.

The characters had an obvious connection.  The sparks definitely fly around them being together.  Very realistic, with a slower pace than I expected.  I give this a 3/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

Caleb cannot believe his eyes when Abby comes out the window of the house next door.  Nearly killing herself, he jumps in and rescues the damsel in distress.  Finding out she can hold her own with him, only makes her more attractive.

This was an amazing series and this story was no exception.  I love all the books I have read by this author.  She is a must click when it comes to purchasing books.  This was a fun and hot read.  The sparks, and the fun friendships, it just is all totaled up in a great story.  I give this a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!

“You have my word.”

“Great. The word of an almost lawyer,” Delaney said mockingly. “That and twelve dollars will buy me a martini.”

Then she instantly regretted pushing his buttons. It was habit. It was fun.

It was dangerous.

One thick, dark eyebrow winged up, like an arched frame around his stunning ice-blue eye. “First you call me spoiled, and now you’re insulting my near-lawyerness? If I didn’t know better, I’d say the lady doth protest too much.”

“The lady has her hands full dealing with your troublesome brothers. She doesn’t need to waste her energy constantly fending you off, too.”

“I think you do.” Kellan set his cup down.

Delaney gaped at him. Because she’d been oh-so-careful never to give away with so much as a flicker the fact the she was still interested. How could he tell something that Delaney barely admitted to herself? “You think I want to keep fending you off?”

“Yes.” Kellan stepped closer. In fact, he moved in way past what would be polite. Invaded her personal space just as much as he’d been invading her mind. “You like fighting with me. You could ignore my compliments, my flirty remarks. You don’t. You rise to the bait every time. I think you’re every bit as frustrated as I am.”

“You don’t know anything about my life outside the time I spend working on your case.” Heat flashed across her cheeks and chest. And she stepped in, too. To where the tips of her breasts brushed his chest, and her feet bumped against his. “Don’t begin to think you know me.”

“I don’t think. I know. I know that you may have been on dates since you met me. But none of them distracted you from whatever’s simmering between us. You want to turn back the clock to the day I asked you out and follow through on it.”

“I don’t.” Her words were the verbal equivalent of a foot stamp. Then, softer, as if she didn’t mean to speak it out loud at all, Delaney said, “We can’t.”

In response, Kellan framed her face with his hands, tilted her head back more, and kissed her.

Not the light, polite, introduction kiss they’d shared the first time. Delaney had obviously pushed him past that step. Kellan kissed as if he needed her to know just how badly he wanted her. His lips worked across her mouth, moving and kneading. Kellan nipped at her wide bottom lip. It felt like punishment for her making him wait so long

It also felt like a reward for waiting so long, and she rewarded him with a tiny moan.

Delaney’s hands fisted in his thick hair, pulling and tugging. It undoubtedly showed him the insta-heat burning her up inside as much as the way her leg wrapped around his calf.

She wanted more.

His tongue teased at the seam of her lips, and Delaney opened for him like they’d already done this dance a hundred times. She tasted the sweetness lingering from his drink. Desire rocketed through her, turning her nerves to lava. From the way his penis had hardened to pure steel against her belly, Kellan felt the same.

He streaked the backs of his knuckles down the undersides of her raised arms. Kept going to just lightly brush them along the sides of her breasts, her ribs, the flare of her hips to finally land on the curve of her ass.

Kellan dug his fingers in and lifted. Just high enough to press her center against his penis. Instantly, she got on board with the position, rocking against him even as her tongue twined and teased.

It was impossible to stop the little, breathy moans that kept escaping from her. It was impossible not to undulate against his rock hard abs and dig her fingers into the sculpted muscles of his back. Kissing Kellan wasn’t foreplay. It was a sex act all by itself. Utterly satisfying even as it drove her hunger up immeasurably.

And while Delaney would’ve sworn it was impossible, he was a million times better in reality than all the ways she’d fantasized being with him over the past months. Kellan ripped his mouth away to burn a trail of kisses down the side of her neck.

A semi rolled by, and the driver honked for a long time. It had been easy to ignore the white noise of the cars passing, but the horn broke through to Delaney. It reminded her they were on the edge of a green-scummed pond, across from a strip mall. The world could see them making out. And they’d already shot way past a reasonable stopping point.

So she unwound her leg and put her foot back down on the ground. Kellan seemed to get the signal. He dialed back the intensity on his kisses and rained them up the side of her face, down her nose, to end with a light peck on her mouth before easing back. Then he moved his hands to her shoulders.

It took a moment for her eyes to re-open. When they did, it took another moment before Delaney fully focused on him.

“Not only can we kiss,” Kellan said with enough authority to make her realize he wouldn’t allow her to pretend this hadn’t happened. To pretend that she hadn’t just climbed him like a tree and responded with a fervor that matched his own. “We’re absolutely doing it again.”

Got It Bad (Bad Boys Gone Good, #3)Got It Bad by Christi Barth
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book is #3, in the Bad Boys Gone Good series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. To fully understand the series without spoilers, please read this great series in order.

Kellan was forced out of his own life, due to his brother's crimes. Now he has to create a new one. He also has to avoid the woman who helped him start over.

Delaney's attraction to Kellan was instant. The feeling is also mutual. Her career is over if she gives in to it. The heart wants what the heart wants. Hopefully they can find middle ground before this causes them to combust.

This book got so hot so fast! The characters right from the start had fueled the spark that just kept igniting. The lure of the forbidden is always harder to ignore.
