I fell right into the book as it is a continuation from the Worth The Fight Series! The characters from the first book (Against the Cage) are here and very much a part of the book. This story for Jessica and Slade is so good, though.
Right from the beginning you can tell how Slade feels about Jessica. She finds him charming but is saddened by the fact that she is responding to him and yet - women are literally throwing themselves at him - In front of her!
Slade takes good care of Jessica after her ex-boyfriend beats her and she ends up in the hospital. She stays at Slade's house and he nurses her carefully back to health. She is very independent, so at the first sign of feeling better, she goes home.
Jessica does not know how she feels about him until after she leaves and goes home. She starts to miss him, and finds herself willing to finally go on the first date they have talked so much about. They really are good together. The sparks are off the charts and when they kiss.... well swoon is just a small word for how I felt.
If you are already a fan of the book series and the MMA fighters - this book is an easy fit for you. I found the alpha males in here to be charming, funny and H.O.T.!! They are also totally protective and very loving.... a true hero... or three.
I cannot wait for the series to continue with a new book coming out in February 2015 is Below the Belt. I am so excited!! Ms Halston has a great sense of who should be together and each book, while being read by themselves is more powerful if you read them in order.
