Layla and Eli's story is a complicated one. There is so much going on and the characters from the original Love series are visible in this book too. Layla starts out with getting a job at Fierce, the bar Cooper and Eli own.
Eli and Layla have chemistry right from the start. They are both attracted and the sparks are sizzling, just waiting for a reaction. Layla sees how he flirts with women, and even her friend Jaylinn can't help but react to him.
Eli is very busy running the bar, as Cooper is out of town a lot. Then, he and Jaylinn have a plan to male Cooper jealous, since he cannot seem to fix what is wrong in his own relationship. Because Eli cares about them both, he helps move that along.
Meanwhile, Layla is still living in a bad part of town and struggling each day. She has a boyfriend, Brian, who does not seem to care about her. He leaves her out in the cold in the early morning. This disturbs Eli, as he thinks women should be treated better.
These characters are strong despite the circumstances, and they turn toward one another. I loved the sincerity and what later is the complete honesty for these characters. You can actually read the development going on. Lots of surprises are in store for the reader! I give this book a 4/5 Kitty's Paws UP!
